Notice for people you call
Last updated September 26, 2026 · Sir Callsalot
You were called by someone using Sir Callsalot — or you want to know what happens when someone would like to use our live help on a call with you. This notice explains which data is processed, where, what is stored, and what rights you have.
1. Who we are
Sir Callsalot is a service of TamerinTECH GmbH, Seestr. 19, 83727 Schliersee, Germany (email: [email protected]; full details in the imprint). We are the controller responsible for the processing described here.
2. What happens on the call
- You are speaking with a person. Our user makes the call and speaks in their own voice. A computer voice speaks on the line only if the notice our user read told you so and you agreed — and then only a sentence our user chose and tapped; it never conducts the conversation and never speaks on its own.
- The call runs over our service's telephone providers. It shows a shared service number, not the caller's personal number. Calling that number back does not necessarily reach the person who called you.
- The live help: only with your permission, our user sees on their screen what you say, translated into their language, and at most one short suggestion for what they could say — which they say themselves, or not. Nothing is recorded. Separately, our user can write or say to the app, in their own language, what they want to answer and then read out the German sentence it prepares; while they speak to the app, their microphone is off the call and you hear a short silence. That is our user's own input, not part of your conversation, and it is not stored; the conversation is used as context for it only while your permission is active.
3. You are asked first
- Before live help starts, our user reads a short notice to you, for example (in German): "Guten Tag, hier ist … Mein Deutsch ist noch nicht so gut. Darf ich eine automatische Übersetzung auf meinem Bildschirm verwenden? [Manchmal liest dabei eine Computerstimme für mich vor.] Es wird nichts aufgenommen." ("Hello, this is … My German is not very good yet. May I use an automatic translation on my screen? [Sometimes a computer voice reads it out for me.] Nothing is recorded.") The sentence in brackets is read only on calls where our user may use a computer voice. Only after your clear yes do they tap "They agreed" in our app. We do not check your answer ourselves — we rely on our user's confirmation and record it as exactly that.
- Until then, no conversation audio is passed to speech-to-text or to any AI; the call runs as a normal phone call.
- You can say no. The call then simply continues as normal — without live help.
- You can withdraw your permission at any time, for example by saying on the call that you no longer want it. Our user must then stop live help at once: processing stops, the computer voice is no longer used and the conversation text collected so far is discarded. Withdrawal takes effect for the future; processing carried out before it remains unaffected.
- If you are transferred or another person joins, live help pauses until that person has agreed as well.
4. Which data is processed — and where
- With your permission: your voice and our user's voice as two separate live audio streams, the text recognized from them, and the translation into our user's language and at most one short suggestion at a time generated from it. The text may be compared with what our user prepared for the call (for example a reference number from a letter addressed to them), so that the app can show them that detail when you ask for it. Sentences the computer voice says for our user become part of this text as our user's own words. The content may include personal details mentioned on the call (for example your name).
- The audio streams are sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI speech-to-text, and short text passages to an Azure OpenAI language model; when our user taps Say it for me, only the German sentence they chose goes, as text, to an Azure OpenAI text-to-speech deployment, which produces the computer voice — it receives no call audio. Speech-to-text and the language model are configured in the EU Data Zone (Azure region Sweden Central). During the pilot, text-to-speech runs in the United States (Azure region East US 2) and receives only the German sentence text our user chose; this transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. Microsoft processes the data as our processor and does not use it to train models; any temporary storage on Microsoft's side (for example for abuse monitoring) is governed by Microsoft's data processing terms. We only use providers that we have explicitly approved for this purpose.
- For the phone connection itself — regardless of live help — our telephone providers and our server process the call audio in transit and the call data (number called, time, duration). The call is stored in our user's account like an entry in a call log: the number called, the business name our user entered, time and duration.
- Before the call, the number is checked against a business directory (Google Places), because our service only calls businesses and organizations.
- No automated decision is made about you (Art. 22 GDPR): the suggestions and the German sentences the app prepares for our user are only wording aids; our user decides what to say and says it themselves or has the computer voice say it.
5. What is stored — and for how long
- No audio recording. We do not record the call and do not store any audio.
- Conversation text only temporarily. The text is held only in our server's memory — during the call and for a 10-minute review window afterwards — and is then deleted. It is not written to our database, logs or analytics. If you withdraw your permission, it is discarded immediately.
- Optional summary. After the call our user can explicitly save a short AI-generated summary (off by default). It stays in their account until they delete it or their account, and it may contain details from the conversation.
- Permission record. For each permission event (granted, refused, withdrawn, paused and so on) we store only: call reference, time, version and language of the notice, processing scope, and the evidence method "user attestation" — no conversation content, no recording of your answer and no other details about you. These records are deleted with our user's account.
- Anything our user notes down during the call themselves, for example by copying from the screen, is outside our control.
6. Legal bases
- Processing what you say for live help is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which our user asks you for before live help starts and confirms to us.
- The phone connection and the call log in our user's account serve our contract with them; where your number and call data are processed for this, we rely on our user's and our own legitimate interest in making phone calls possible (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Permission records, the destination check and the suppression list are based on our legitimate interest in being able to show that live help only ran with permission and in preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
7. No further calls through our service
If you do not want to receive calls through our service any more, say so on the call or write to [email protected] stating the phone number concerned. The number then goes on a suppression list and will not be called again by any user of our service. The list stores only the number and your request, until you ask us to remove it.
8. Your rights
- You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
- Please note: because we delete the conversation text after the review window, there is usually nothing left with us about the content of your conversation after that — except a summary, if our user saved one. What remains is the permission record, which contains no content, and the call entry in our user's account. So that we can match your request, please tell us the phone number that was called and the approximate date and time of the call.
- You may lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
